Peter Crossley教授主要研究领域是智能电网，电力系统保护与控制，低碳技术在输电网和配电网的应用。Peter Crossley教授于1977年本科毕业于曼彻斯特大学，1983年博士毕业于剑桥大学，并于当年加入GEC测量中心（现GE电网），担任高级技术工程师和研究技术管理人员。1991年，他由工业界转向学术界，在曼彻斯特大学任教11年，随后在贝尔法斯特女王大学担任电气工程专业的教授及能源与动力研究系主任。2006年，他返回曼彻斯特大学任电力系统专业的教授，并先后担任焦耳中心主任，电能及电力系统系主任，电力系统物理科学研究委员会（EPSRC）中心主任负责博士培养。他同时是IEEE杰出教师，北京交通大学“111”工程中国海外专家机构的海外专家，美国科学基金会和清华大学之间的国际协作专家，并任清华大学、北京交通大学、中国国家电网公司的客座教授。

The research activities of Professor Peter Crossley are related to smart-grids, power system protection and control, and the impact of low carbon technologies on transmission and distribution networks.

After graduating from the University of Manchester in 1977 and the University of Cambridge in 1983 he joined GEC Measurements (now GE Grid) and progressed to Senior Technical Engineer and Research Manager. In 1991, he left industry and moved to academia. After 11 years at the University of Manchester, he joined Queen’s University of Belfast as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of Power & Energy Research. In 2006 he returned to the University of Manchester as Professor of Power Systems, later Director of the Joule Centre, then Head of Electrical Energy & Power Systems and finally Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Power Networks.

He is also an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, an Overseas Expert of China State Foreign Expert Bureau for a “111” project at Beijing Jiaotong University and an International Collaboration Expert for an NSF award to Tsinghua University. He currently holds Guest Professorships at Beijing Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University and China State Grid.

曼彻斯特大学代表团将于5月8日-9日访问我校，此行的主要目的是与我校开展科研、学术以及学生交流合作。Peter Crossley教授作为访团的成员之一将与我院学子进行学术交流。曼彻斯特大学（The University of Manchester）创建于1824年，是英国大学中世界排名最高的八大最著名学府之一，英国著名的六所“红砖大学”之首；英国高等教育基金委员会2014年发布的英国大学科研水平评估中曼彻斯特大学综合排名位列第5位；现任全职教职员工中有3位若贝尔奖得主，位列全英之冠，迄今教职员工及校友中已有25位诺贝尔奖获得者；2016/17年度QS世界大学排名中位列世界29名，2013/14年度QS世界大学雇主声誉排名中位居世界第9名。2015年10月23日，中国国家主席习近平曾到访该校的英国国家石墨烯研究院。
